Play #2 Failure leads to Success

Periodically I will be posting the daily devotionals from each play for success. December's play is "Failure leads to Success". You might ask yourself how in the world can failure lead to success, you may have thought that if you fail, you are not successful. Through these devotionals we will explore how you can look at failure, roadblocks and setbacks as a good thing. Something that will make you a more valuable soldier for Christ.

Day One: I’m Successful because I Fail
Michael Jordan said it. He is successful because of the failures that occurred in his life. Failure. What is it anyway? The dictionary says it is lack of success. I suppose that’s true, but failure goes deeper than that. I would venture to say that “failure” or set backs are vital for success in the games of your life. If you have not experienced failure, you will not be able to fully grasp success. Perhaps it’s better to not say you failed, but to say you are in a process of success. Ask yourself what would the world be like without the invention of the light bulb? Thomas Edison said of his journey of invention, “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” Are you just finding ways that don’t work? Are you looking at the things that go wrong logically and making a choice to make them right? “God doesn’t give us the ability to make every right decision, but He does give us the ability to make every decision right.” (Andy Andrews) It’s a hard thing to do, but are you choosing to make those failures right today?
Lord, I know you have great plans for me. Plans for my success in the games of life. Help me to look at set backs not as failure but as a journey to success. I pray for your wisdom in helping me to make things right when I screw up. Thank you, Jesus for being in my life!

“I believe one reason God allows us to experience hard things in our lives is so we can become the warrior God wants us to become. God wants people of integrity who are tough, tested, confident, strong and courageous. He wants battle-worn soldiers who know what it’s like to be in the trenches and aren’t afraid of a challenge. Allowing battles and difficulties to come into our lives ensures a training ground to grow the kind of studly troops God is looking for to change the world.”
